Korean Car Export Documents Explained

A premium exporter’s perspective from Seoul, written for buyers who care about the details. Clean paperwork is what makes customs clearance fast. Here is every document a Korean export shipment should include.
Commercial invoice
States the buyer, the vehicle, the agreed price and terms. It is the basis for your payment and for customs valuation at the destination.
Export (de-registration) certificate
Korean cars must be de-registered for export. This certificate proves the vehicle is legally cleared to leave Korea and is essential for import clearance.
Bill of Lading (B/L)
The shipping document that proves your cargo is on board and lets you claim the car at the destination port. You should receive it once the vessel sails.
Origin & inspection documents
A certificate of origin and a pre-shipment inspection (where the destination requires one) round out the set, along with the inspection report and photo pack.
