RoRo vs Container Shipping from Korea: Which Should You Choose?

RoRo vs Container Shipping from Korea: Which Should You Choose?

A premium exporter’s perspective from Seoul, written for buyers who care about the details. The two ways to ship a car out of Korea each have a sweet spot. Here is how to pick the cheaper, safer option for your shipment.

RoRo: cheapest for single running cars

With Roll-on/Roll-off the car is driven onto a dedicated vehicle carrier. It is usually the most economical choice for a single, drivable unit to a major port, with frequent sailings to Africa and the Middle East.

Container: protection and consolidation

A 20ft or 40ft container protects premium and low-mileage units from weather and handling, and lets a dealer load 2–4 cars per box to cut the per-unit cost. Containers also reach ports without regular RoRo service.

How to decide

One clean economy sedan to Tema or Mombasa? RoRo. A Genesis, a lot of several cars, or a port with no RoRo line? Container. Send your port and we will quote the cheaper safe option.
